Richmond

Richmond is a wash of footy jerseys, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Swan Street is a great choice for footy pre-game vibe but there are some absolute live sports bar gems hidden in some of the smaller streets. Have you been to them all? You should. All corners of Richmond sometimes known as ‘the island’ are brimming with venues to watch any live sport you can think of. Probably one of the reasons it has become increasingly expensive to buy property there. For anyone who wants to get the essence of what Melbourne is about (which is essentially live sport) then Richmond is the suburb for you...Or if it isn’t the suburb for you try our is of best sports bars in all of Melbourne page here

Prince Alfred Hotel

Prince Alfred Hotel

Fantastic beer beer garden with a projector screen showing the games. Great pub for the footy but they show plenty of other sport here as well. Always an enjoyable vibe at this excellent example of a Melbourne pub.
Harlow

Harlow

Newly renovated pub where the Great Britain used to be. Really good burgers. Nice beer garden which is dog friendly.
The Swan Hotel

The Swan Hotel

Affectionately known by locals as "the dirty swan", this epic pub is anything but dirty when it comes to live sports. These guys live and breathe sport. A little further from the G than some of the others in this list, but a strong option if you want to settle into a seat and watch in HD.
London Tavern Hotel

London Tavern Hotel

If a computer was asked to scan the internet and then design the perfect footy pub, the Tav is likely what it would spit out. A must visit for sports fans, especially good pre or post MCG, as it's only a Brett Lee throw from the boundary away from the stadium.
The Precinct Hotel

The Precinct Hotel

The Precinct is never a bad option for watching sports. One of the bigger pubs in Richmond with a classy outdoor area, you won't be disappointed with the atmosphere here. In that sweet spot of a sub 5 minute walk to Melbourne sporting precinct (get it?) this is the perfect destination whether you're on your way to watch live, or happy to watch from a big screen.
Richmond Club Hotel

Richmond Club Hotel

Go here, you should. Perfect mix of old pub charm with modern amenities. Our favourite thing about this place? Easy, the view. You can see the whole city from the top level balcony and its epic.
